What do you prefer for breakfast? Oatmeal or toast?
Let me help you with some choices for a healthy breakfast if you are to jump start weight loss.
You should be looking for a cereal that is without fat, hydrogenated oil or is high in fructose corn syrup. Ideally, it should all be fiber and should be satisfying.
- Oatmeal takes more time to digest and keeps you full for a long time. It prevents fat storage, lowers bad cholesterol, gives you protein and continues to give a steady supply of energy. Throw in some of your favorite fruits and nuts in to plain organic oatmeal. Walnuts and almonds are store houses of proteins, fiber and minerals and energy.
- Plain cheerios are good too. But watch out for their sodium content.
- Shredded wheat is a good meal replacement according to a study conducted on obese people who were put on a successful weight loss diet. Except for their breakfast, there were no changes in their diet and still they lost weight in a fortnight.
- Shredded oats cannot be neglected with its whole grain oats and wheat. It may contain some sugar, though.
- Multi-grain squares can be enriching with a low sugar content. Buy some of those organic ones that contain no preservatives.
- Having a breakfast with some flaxseed along with food can double the benefits for you. Remember Omega-3’s? Flaxseed contains Omega-3’s while fruits give you plenty of antioxidants. Look for flax granola’s too.
