Are you intimidated by your increasing waistline?
Cannot think of running for 45 minutes everyday? Can’t even imagine dieting? Maybe you should try a Calorie less menu to lose weight. A menu with less calorie but enough nutrition will give you a healthy diet and help you lose weight.
What did you eat this morning?
A butter toast with two eggs or cereals in full milk along with a yummy pan cake or muffin? Indian food will have a little more oil, ghee, ground nuts, coconut and more. Try calculating the total calories you might earn with such a breakfast everyday. You will be astonished to find that you will be earning 300-500 calories per breakfast. You may want to reduce our high calorie intake but it seems to be difficult and unrealistic to you.
Breakfast
- 2 slices of toast with low-fat spread instead of butter or peanut butter.
- Instead of your pancake take a bagel with honey. Honey has a little higher calorie rate than table sugar. But it is a healthy diet if used in limits.
- Go for skimmed milk than full milk.
- Stop your repetitive morning teas and coffees. Take a glass of orange juice instead.
- Have a small bowl of cereals/oatmeal with fruits and nuts.
A lunch should be sumptuous for many of us. We do not make much compromise on our lunch even if we can settle in for a frugal dinner.
A good lunch may contain a soup, total meal and a lovely dessert. Have a nutritious carrot soup instead of your usual tomato soup. A low-fat sandwich with whole grain bread and a salad should be a weight watcher’s favourite. Forget mayonnaise for a while and taste low-fat salad dressings and bread spreads.
Dinner Plans
- Steamed rice can substitute fried rice.
- Eat a large vegetable pizza instead of an extra cheese/pepperoni pizza.
- Grilled fish or skinless chicken works well better than fried fish and sausages.
- Avoid eggs acknowledging them to be “cholesterol bombs”.
- Cook your food is less oil or use spray oil.
Do not remain hungry but eat snacks 5 or 6 times daily. Enjoy biscuits, apples, small bananas or other fruits. Drink lots of fluids and replace your coke with a diet coke. You can have a coffee once in a while with artificial sweetener with or without skim milk.
