Whatever option you choose you know that losing weight is not easy. And it is not all easy to control it and maintain it. You can maintain the desired weight only by eating a healthy regular diet and by getting enough exercise. Your lifestyle should not waver from this routine and cannot afford sweets, fatty foods or inactivity. But we all are human beings with our own vulnerability. After a few weeks or months of ‘austere’ life you may go out of track once in a while.
During my graduation days I used to frequent a Women’s fitness center. I started going there not to reduce my weight but to please the lady owner of the place, a family friend. The whole experience was fun as I could make friends with a few plump (naughty) school children who were “dropped” there after school for exercise. I stopped going there once my college timings changed demanding more concentration from me. If I remember correctly, I had not even shed a pound during my exercise days. And I successfully put on a few pounds with really elastic cheeks!
- While you exercise or follow a weight-loss diet you are asked to check your weight religiously. But you go lazy once it is over with satisfactory results. You get carried away by your busy life. And after a few days the thunder strikes. You feel that the waist band of your pants is a little tighter than before. The weighing scale shows a few extra pounds. Don’t panic! Don’t brood over it or get obsessed. You are not late. Checking your weight reminds you of your weight and will prevent you from laziness and overeating. It does not signify any health risk or illness as yet.
- Forget low fat foods. Yes! You don’t gain anything by your low fat diet. It is human psychology to keep on doing something when you are told that there is no harm in doing it. If you know that a certain food is low-fat you tend to eat more than you normally do. Instead, take a lot of vegetables and fruits which are low in calories. Also use your label reading skills while buying food items than going by the advertisements.
- One of the golden principles during a weight loss program is to write down everything you eat. But once you stop doing this after weight-loss you lose track of what garbage you eat every time (mindless eating). Get back to your old habits to count your daily calories.
