How?

My friend gets up at 10 in the morning and mostly skips her breakfast as she hurries to work. Well, no! I don’t intend to say that she lost weight or she gained weight. She got ulcers! But reports show that those who ate breakfast regularly maintained a normal wieght and remained slimmer than those skipped it. As a child, I always skipped my breakfast and my father used to remind me saying “In the mornings, you have to eat like a prince”.

He is right! In the morning you are waking upto a hunger which you don’t realize. You have been starving for nearly 10 hours. Breakfast in the morning increases your metabolic function and helps you lose weight. Also, a person who does not eat breakfast tends to overeat during the day.

Ideal breakfast

What you need is protein, vitamins, minerals and carbohydrates along with fibre. You should eat fruits and whole grains and have eggs, low fat milk, peanut butter, yogurt or cheese for protein. A glass of soyamilk is fine too. Fruits have both fibre and water which will save you from constipation and dehydration. Foods containing fibre will also keep your bowels movements smooth and regulate the digestive system. Oatmeal is also a healthier choice as it works to reduce cholesterol and weight.

Just brown coloured bread does not give anything. Look for whole grain breads or cereals. You can also have a glass of juice instead of tea or water along with breakfast. However, remember that fruit juices or canned food items do not substitute fresh fruits.
