 cradle    Motherhood is a joyous experience. But many mothers detest the physical changes they undergo after their baby. A few new flabs, a belly with two or three folds and total change in their figure and a change of sizes which can be endearingly called as baby fat. Weight loss at this stage is difficult and so too is weight control as she has diet restrictions and needs a lot of nourishment for the sake of both herself and the baby. And it may not be easy later on!! Now what to do?

   The first step is to ask your doctor about weight gain during pregnancy. Make sure that you have the right weight at that time with a balanced diet and adequate exercises.   1. No worries! Don’t worry over your fatty middle. It is natural and you are not to be blamed. If you lose your self confidence you may feel stressed making weight loss all the more difficult.
  2. No stress! As you have a wonderful time with the sweet little member of your family stop thinking about those ugly flabs and fat bellies. Stress makes matters worse by adding up to obesity.
  3. beerNo booze! Booze at this time is not a great idea to get you through. By boozing, you are, in fact, adding to your calories and pounds making weight loss a dream. The number of calories a drink gives you makes drinking suicidal.
  4. With the advice of your doctor exercise daily. Start with light walking.
  5. Do not go overboard when you are eating. Eat healthy as you did all these months of pregnancy to support your physical activity.
  6. No fast foods, sodas and fad diets.
  7. Stick on to that small but many meal plan to keep your blood sugar level steady. Healthy snacks are a bonus. Eg: Yogurt, whole wheat crackers, low fat milk
  8. Enjoy breast feeding as much as the baby does. Though breast milk you lose a lot of welcome calories boosting your weight loss process. It can burn around 500 calories a day!
  9. Ask your doctor about abdominal exercises a month after delivery and once the doctor has cleared you of diastasis.
