The male members of our society are so keen on muscle building that they commit a lot to non-aerobic exercises. This happens because many of us still don’t understand the difference between aerobic and non-aerobic exercises. Physical activities like brisk walking, swimming, tennis etc. involve or improve oxygen consumption by the body and they are called aerobic (air or oxygen) exercises. The simple thing to remember is when you are doing an aerobic exercise you should be able to talk without gasping for air. Aerobic is good for cardiovascular health, improved energy, enhanced mood, increased good cholesterol and weight loss!
Non-aerobic exercises talk of exercises which involve rapid motions that produce energy without using oxygen. They benefit by providing strength and flexibility for the body and by improving muscle coordination. Yet, they are unhealthy for the heart while giving zero support to weight loss.
The first tip to those who desire weight loss is to sleep well! To lose weight, theoretically, you need to eat less calories and work out more. Unless you take rest you won’t feel like exercising at all and will have no energy for exercise. Secondly, keep record of your routine. Note down the calorie intake as well the exercises and the amount of time contributed to each. Slowly increase the amount of time spend on each one by reviewing your record until you reach a time period you can settle for.
Walking is the best exercise for weight loss and good cardiovascular health. Brisk walks by swinging your arms are ideal for burning maximum calories. Remember to warm up because you need to burn fat and not sugar. Walk steadily and not too fast in the beginning. Speed up gradually and be adventurous by climbing hills, stairs etc. Alternatively, you can try jumping jacks, running, swimming and even climbing up and down the stairs.
There is no golden rule that physical activity has to hard especially to lose weight. All you need is consistency and patience!
