If you are health conscious and want to maintain your current weight or if you are trying to lose weight you can try our portion control tips.

  • What is portion control?

As the name says it, control your portion size as you eat and gain fewer calories. The best thing about portion control is you don’t actually feel you are dieting because you can eat whatever you want, provided you are under control. The only drawback with this is that you cannot go for a buffet anymore!

  • How to practice it?

It is not very difficult. At least, it is much better than eating nothing but some raw veggies and fruits. You can make use of this weight loss idea if you are a food-loving person and cannot really diet.

  1. Forget wiping up your dinner plate. Do not bother serving too much and cleaning up all that you have served yourself. There is a tendency in us to wipe clean the serving dish especially in a restaurant on the pretext of making the most of our money. But by doing so, you are in fact gorging down a lot of oil, fried veggies, cashew paste, coconut or a lot of sugar (in a dessert). Don’t waste. Pack it up.
  2. Eat half. If you usually eat a bowl of ice cream after your meal try eating half. Eat half a sandwich or have half a bowl of rice.
  3. Mostly eat in. Otherwise, go for kid sizes or singles packs than total meals.
  4. Wait a little before your second serving. You may realize that you don’t need a second serving at all. Eating slowly by chewing the food well works too.
  5. Eat more fruits than sweets. Have a carrot for a snack.
  6. Use quarter plates instead of dinner plates for a psychological effect. You won’t feel that you are eating too less.
  7. Fix your routine on your serving sizes. For instance, eat a piece of meat that fits the square of your inner palm or eat a bowl of rice that fits a small cup or a Katori.
  8. And never hesitate to say “No”.

Eat healthy and lose weight!
