Would you read anymore if I say you should never eat out? You will not glance at another word. It is because we all strive hard to eat well and enjoy every new day. There is no weekend without me eating out. I cannot think of it as a weekend if I don’t see any prospective of relishing some wonderful food at my favorite restaurant. But at the same time I would be guilty of committing a crime to my body by doing so. Eating out is just not a healthy idea!

Yet, let’s see how we can enjoy our food outside without being sabotaging our body. When I say this, I don’t believe in the empty promises that our restaurants make”: the “no-calorie burgers”, “the high fiber salads” or anything of the like. Let’s not allow the fast food chains to fool us anymore. From now on, it should us who decide what we eat the way we want it.

Here are some simple tips to a healthy foo.

  1. The very basic thing is to avoid as much of oil as possible. Since most places offer made-to-order foods, ask for an oil-free and butter-free preparation.
  2. Ask for salad dressings aside so that you can add them yourself. The best way to eat is to have only the vegetables.
  3. Fried and sautéed items are enemies to a healthy body. You can have your food grilled, steamed or broiled.
  4. If you have portion sizes pack half of your food immediately. You are not acting weird. You are just being sensible.
  5. Tomato based sauces have less calories than cream-based ones.
  6. Salsa is low on calories and can serve as a spicy alternative to many things including toppings. Avoid extra cheese.
  7. Avoid appetizers if possible.
  8. It is always better to choose baked and poached items than fried ones.
  9. Prefer fruits and vegetables as the key ingredients in your food.
  10. Don’t pass time with chips while waiting for the entree dishes. They don’t serve anything but calories. Enjoy the bread instead (without butter, of course). Whole wheat bread is awesome!
  11. Skip sodas and coffee. Settle in for fruit juices or beverages without sugar.
  12. It works if you can share your dessert with a chum.
  13. Don’t worry about left-overs. Pack them home.

This kind of eating out can surely serve you better with your weight loss plans.
