weighing scale Men don’t like getting nagged. And it is hard to nag them in to exercise. It is heartbreaking to put them on a diet or to deny them their favorite foods because of their tedious job and long working hours (many thanks to depression).

Obesity (with a BMI of 30 or more) is more severe in men than women, according to some findings. In obese people hypertension, heart disease, cancer and type II diabetes are very common. They also face a lot of psychosocial hardships and joint problems.

In men, especially, those who spend long hours sitting amass a lot of fat in their middle. Hours of inactivity and stress jointly make them obese and prone to health hazards. When under stress, cortisol is released stimulating fat storage around the stomach and abdomen. The contribution of alcohol to belly fat can’t be ignored.

If you seriously want to get rid of your unnecessary pounds start with a weight loss plan today itself.

  1. As a first step, take foods that are less refined and are low in sodium. Eat fruits in plenty and cut down dairy products and chips. Choose whole grains for extra fiber.
  2. Start dieting by avoiding high-fat and high-calorie foods. Reducing the intake of high-sugar foods and junk foods is going to help your appetite as well.
  3. Get the help of a registered dietitian if you are uncertain.
  4. Think of all the money you can save if you are healthy in order to get motivated: low insurance, less medicines and zero visits to the doctor.
  5. You don’t gain anything by staying away from your favorite foods for the sake of weight loss. Focus on a healthy diet of 1500-1850 calories. Occasionally treat yourself with your favorites.
  6. Use meat only after cutting out the visible portions of fat. Consume only 3 or 4 3-ounce meat servings a week. Instead of red meat switch on to skinless chicken or turkey. Fish is always a healthier choice to get your share of protein.
  7. Though alcohol is merriment and calories minus nutrition many of us can’t live without a sip. Wine is the safest best among all the liquors.
  8. How many of us do regular exercise? For an improved living and health get some light exercise everyday. Start with 20 minutes and slowly increase it to 60.
  9. Manage your stress. There is no point in getting stressed out and steaming it on your family and co-workers. Reduce your working hours when you feel like it and call in sick when you need to!!!antistress
